This picture frame craft is perfect for any one! My daughters and I did this craft for over an hour and we all enjoyed it! When I say this made my 90s heart so happy, I mean it! It was so much fun, and just a really cool different craft, from the run of the mill stuff that kids usually do. I was able to partner with Shiny Mae Magic to use their Deco Cream to make these fun picture frame crafts. I have wanted to work on printing and displaying more pictures around my house, and my girls have commandeered all the pictures we currently have in our house. So we started with their spaces.
Can I just say that as a mom who really wants to lean into her millennial minimalist era, I cannot stand crafts and craft kits that make something that I will ultimately throw away. I have two little girls who THRIVE when doing crafts. Crafting will keep them busy for HOURS, but gosh the mess and the waste! I feel like I am spending so much money on the supplies, and then almost immediately throwing it away. I honestly think that most of the crafting kits geared for kids are junk. I was cautiously optimistic with this set, and I was pleasantly surprised with how cute these turned out. I honestly see me keeping this adorable little frames until they fall apart. So I just want you to rest assured that these are going to be really cute, and totally something you will want to keep.

Here is what I got, to do this craft! I wanted to keep it super simple and straight forward. I also went super cheap with it because I was afraid my kids would fail miserably with this, and now I regret that, because I love these frames so much. I recommend getting the nicer frame if your kids are craft lovers like mine! So I guess this means I am going to have to do it again!
- Picture Frames! The kit that I got did four 4×6 frames easily. I feel like we could have probably done close to 8 frames had we had more frames on hand!
- Grab some embellishments! I searched on for embellishments and found these! They would work perfectly! I also emptied my craft closet of all the beads we had and they made cute little additions too! Anything small and light weight would work great here! Rhinestones or pom poms would be great too! Seriously empty out your craft supplies for all the little things!
- Then grab some Shiny Mae Deco Cream! This is the main part of the craft! There are several color combos, but we used the original set! It also comes with some fun flower embellishments.
- Now I think this craft could be gender neutral! There are lots of “boyish” colors in the kit, and if you add in some buttons, boyish colored beads, and the right embellishments it can go both ways!
So in the ease of this project, let your kid’s creativity take over. Don’t over think it. Originally I really wanted these to look a certain way, but when I just let my kids go and do what they wanted. When I did this they turned out so much cuter! The girls love what they created and think they are so cool! They are so excited to put them in their room. I printed out pictures to try to match the color schemes they used, and its just darling. These do take about 24 hours to dry, so just be prepared to get your kids to wait. They get a kind of hardened outside after a little bit, but its not entirely dry until about 24 hours! (maybe longer if they really gloop it on)
Here are some Pro Tips for you. First, put something down to cover your work space. This stuff is really easy to clean up, but it is messy. I learned this the hard way, and then quickly grabbed a thing of wipes to quickly clean up any messes. I also recommend that you cover their clothes. I did not, and it doesn’t come out. I have smocks that my kids wear and it makes this a non-issue but I didn’t pull them out for some strange reason. Lastly, if your kiddos are struggling with squirting out the deco cream then I highly recommend putting it on the frame for them and then letting them put the objects on. My 6 year old could squirt it out no problem, my three year old struggled with enough hand strength to squeeze it out.
Be prepared to be obsessed. I LOVED doing this. I have already thought about how this would be such a fun activity to do with my girlfriends. Seriously, a fun book club craft, a fun craft to do with friends, girls night craft, church craft, birthday parties, sleepovers! It was so much fun, and there would be so many fun opportunities to create with this. It was really really fun for me to just sit down with my kids and make something fun and colorful.
But this was a super fun, low stress craft and I loved it! I cant wait to display these and to do it again! Thanks so much Shiny Mae! This Deco Cream is great!
