I love overnight oats. In this postpartum period I have been trying to fuel my body to the best of my ability and that means lots of fiber, protein, and good calories. I am also trying to combat this raging sweet tooth that comes around every time I am nursing a baby. These oats seem to help a ton with both things. Here is how you make them.
The base layer is a really simple recipe. This will be included in all the oats that I share, and you can use this and adjust the flavors to your liking to make new flavors! But the key is, YOU HAVE TO BLEND THE OATS! If you don’t they will taste like trash. Blending is literally the reason why these have a smooth pudding like consistency. I don’t like any of these recipes if I don’t blend the oats first. What does that mean? Literally show a cup full into a blender and blend them. They will keep in a mason if you want to do a big batch of them!
This is the base recipe:
- 40g of blended rolled oats
- 1 serving of yogurt of choice (170-200g usually)
- 1 scoop of protein powder
- 1/4-1/2 cup of milk of choice (the more milk you add the more runny it will be, I like mine runny and use 1/2 cup, my husband likes his thick and uses 1/4 a cup)
Now for some fun flavor combinations! You can do most of these with a chocolate or vanilla protein powder, but some fun off the wall flavors are fun too!
