And moving into an RV while we do it! We recently bought a 2008 Heartland Bighorn. It is 35ft long and a hot mess. We are going to have to do some major renovations to this thing before it is ready to be lived in, but we are super excited.
We are making this big move so that we can start building our forever home on our 5 acre property. This is literally what we have worked our whole life for, and we are so excited to get started. All the parts are in motion, we just have to get our big house sold and then its off to the races.
We have already started the process of removing all the smelly things in the RV and scrubbing it from top to bottom, and it looks so much better than when we started. We still have a long way to go, and I have an ever growing checklist going in my head:
- Get electric set up
- Make a driveway
- Scrub the walls
- Remove the carpets
- Paint the walls
- Paint the cabinets
- Assemble the kids beds
- Make curtains
- Hang Curtain Rods
- Install New Carpets
- Hang wallpaper
- Install the new stove and hood vent
- Order a propane tank
- Order all the hoses
- And the list goes on.
Its a lot of work, and there have been a lot of moments of “what have we done!” but for the most part we are super excited. We honestly have almost a toxic positivity mindset about this adventure. We aren’t worried about this at all. We know we will love getting to spend time together as a family, and being forced to spend more time outdoors, and we are just really excited to be out on the property because it is truly our happy place. The only things we are concerned about are being cold, critters, and getting the smell out of this thing. After that we are worry free! Its been really freeing to just get rid of stuff at this point.
We keep asking the girls what they are excited about and all they can talk about is how they get to live in bunk beds while we live in the RV. Its the only thing they are worried about, and when we ask them if they are excited to build a new house all they can ask about is if their bunk beds can come to the new house too. So atleast we have that going for us.
I am deep into vision/mood board creation, for this house, because I want to have all my decisions pre-made to some extent. The faster I can make decisions the faster we can get out of the RV. So I want to have a general idea about colors, flooring type, and details before we even get started. I’m hoping this idea will also help us get an accurate quote from the bank so we can ensure we will stay on budget.
I’m going to leave these before pictures right here for all to see, so we can look back on this one day and laugh at how absolutely crazy we were.
[…] is something new for us. Since we are moving I have put away almost all of the toys the girls have. We just couldn’t keep the play room […]
